Susan Hinsley received her undergraduate degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 1990 and her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) Degree in 1999 from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis.

Susan has over 22 years of experience in the practice of Family Law, including such areas as divorce and separation, child custody, child support, adoptions, child abuse and neglect, juvenile court practice, paternity, dependency and neglect, and post-divorce modifications of parenting schedules, child support and alimony.

Susan is a Rule 31 Listed Family Mediator focusing primarily on assisting people resolve family law disputes, both divorce and post-divorce as well as other family law related disputes. Susan is also trained in collaborative family law.

Susan has earned a BV* rating by Martindale-Hubble for her ethical standards and legal ability.  Susan’s rating indicates an exemplary reputation and well-established practice, and reflects her peers rating her legal ability and ethical standards as “high to very high.” 

She is a member of the Memphis Bar Association and served on the Board of Directors of the Young Lawyers Division in 2000 and 2001. She is also a member of the Family Law Section of the Memphis Bar Association.  She was a member of the Leo Bearman Sr. Chapter of American Inns of Court from 2001 through 2003. Susan is current member of the Memphis Alternative Dispute Resolution Inn of Court.
